One End White Other End Black

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I was feeling Black and White ... I think Black and White are like south and north pole ... up and down ... high and low ... off and on ... see where I am going with this? I think this describes perfectly how I have been feeling for the past few weeks I am either happy or sad ... extremely excited or fall asleep bored ... confused or clear minded ... my own personal roller coaster so I used that to be creative so here are a few examples of what I have been doing

First is a picture I took at the LA Art Show and I turned it into a photo that shows a significant bright light as well as ominous dark figures in the darkness where they lead you is up to you. (Hope I made it big enough for you to see)
Title: Good or Evil

Next we have the most recent Black and White Necklaces I made ... I am going for a Black and White Line as you might notice Classic and Modern

And the very last photo is of my new Zebra decal on my Mac no opposing meaning there Just Fun

What I take away from all this ... don't take yourself too serious and use whatever emotion you are having and turn it into something creative ... never know what it will be

Don't think I was the only one feeling Black and White ... Check out some of my Etsy Finds

Win Win was not a lose lose

Saturday, February 19, 2011

When asked what is my blog about? I think I can narrow it down to 3 things Family, Movies, and Creating(that covers almost everything).  Now one blog could fit all three but what I write must have at least one of those so this blog is about a Movie

Win Win, directed by Thomas McCarthy.  I could say its a wrestling movie but that would be a very big oversight on my part and this movie deserves more then that. You wouldn't call The Fighter just a boxing movie would you. I am no professional movie reviewer but I tell it like I see it. When I say a movie is good to me that means it made me feel something and made me think.  This movie did just that ... I laughed and I wouldn't call it a comedy ... I felt frustrated much like the main character Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti) who is an Attorney by day and by late afternoon a high school wrestling coach who's team for a lack of a better word sucks. I didn't cry but I could say that I did get a warm happy feeling without all the sap. This Attorney, Father, Coach, and Husband (Mike) who is trying to keep it all together stumbles into another family very different from his own.  An old man who is slowly losing his mind, his grandson who wrestles more then he talks, and his daughter who believes she is owed her inheritance. Mike is just trying to do right for his family and as a man.

I hope this is true for most people, we all make mistakes from time to time but I want to believe that there is a good intention behind those actions. This movie does a good job in showing the gray area in making decisions in life. Life is not always simple and some times we need to make those hard decisions ... but make these decisions from the right intentions and you might find that in the end it all works its way out (that's what I want to believe). Good movie that deals with real life situations of relatable characters. I wouldn't call it an epic however well written, well directed, and well performed so over all a Win Win on my list.

We should all make life choices with good intentions (that's what I am taking from this movie)

Life is a gamble

Friday, February 11, 2011

Life is a gamble so pull up a chair and join me for a round ...

Thanks to my DVR recorder I no longer turn on the TV and channel surf.
I no longer watch useless shows that I have no real interest in.
However I do miss the occasional ace I would stumble across ... So the other night when I found myself looking through my DVR and found nothing new I was plagued with two choices, one was this a sign to turn off the TV and find something more productive to occupy my time or two should I seizes this opportunity to channel surf like the good old days before DVRs and see what I could find. I took that Gamble and seized this opportunity to flip through channels ... and I am so glad I did because I hit the jackpot ... thanks to HBO I come across the Movie My Blueberry Nights (2007) and sadly I had no knowledge of this movie and the info button was not much help so I said to myself "let it ride"

How could I have not heard of a movie with Jude Law ... Norah Jones ... and Natalie Portman ...

Yes its a story about love but there is more to it then that
Its about a journey ... and when making a journey the people that one comes across and the things we learn about ourselves through them
I think everyone at some point needs to take that journey to find out more of who they are and to see things through someones else's eyes
and you don't need to get in a car or a plane and travel miles away to take a journey you can do it in your own city ... push yourself to do something new and get out and meet new people ... step out of your confort zone and take that gamble on yourself ... you will always come up a winner

Flaunt Your Feathers

Monday, February 7, 2011

My inspiration for this week is nature thanks to the Discovery Channel for the Plant Earth series ...
I can't seem to get enough thank goodness there are 11 parts
Earth gives us amazing works of art that are 100% natural
I will say that I am not one to go and frolic in a jungle or dive to great deeps in the vast ocean but thanks to Plant Earth I can see all the magic of mother nature from the comfort of my living room ... no bug repellent needed.  The main theme I just love in nature is how the male species must impress the females by sound, color or even by their ability to DANCE in order to attract a partner.

With Feb 14th just around the corner I personally don't need diamonds, roses, mac computers or chocolates  but hopes my partner reads this and can impress me with his  Dancing Skills ... So for all the men out there take a hint from nature and  flaunt your feathers and impress the lady with something from your heart. Hand made cards are the best ... make dinner and dessert ... set the mood with candles and music.  Be present with your partner put cell phones away and have a few hours of conversation ... every relationship needs time for communication. So take what you have read and make it your own don't forget the most important part is to talk to each other without any distractions or interruptions. Enjoy the time you have with each other (everyday)

What my husband and I love to do together:
Board games
Reading to each other
Walking the dogs
Cards
Watching movies at home with a yummy bottle of wine

Find 5 things you like to do with your partner and do them
